Nuraghe Mannu

Description

The village of Nuraghe Mannu, located on a volcanic plateau 200 metres above sea level, offers a panoramic view of the Gulf of Orosei and was strategically selected to exploit the location’s natural defences to protect the settlement.

The archaeological site comprises a simple nuragh surrounded by a nuraghic and Roman settlement. The immense nuragh was built with irregular basalt blocks and has a trapezoid-shaped entrance. Inside, you find yourself in an elliptical space with high niches built into the walls.

Numerous pieces of pottery were unearthed during the excavations, including pans and cups, and terracing was found dating to the nuraghic period with later modifications made during the Roman age.
