Museo Nazionale Archeologico G. Asproni

Inaugurated in 2002, the museum is located in Nuoro’s old town, in the nineteenth-century building that once belonged to Giorgio Asproni, a famous nineteenth-century Sardinian intellectual and politician.

The exhibit includes archaeological finds that were once in the Museo Speleo-Archeologico, materials from the city collection and objects acquired by the Soprintendenza and through private donations.

The museum’s collection attests to the rich palaeontological and archaeological heritage of the Province of Nuoro, with finds coming from a wide range of historical periods.

The museum is currently in the middle of a major renovation, and its new iteration will make use of innovative multimedia technologies. The visitors’ path will integrate educational materials, innovative communication, immersive imagery and 3D architectural reconstructions.
