Osidda
Description
Osidda is a small hill town surrounded by picturesque natural landscapes.
It is the smallest municipality in the Province of Nuoro and rich in historical and cultural sites.
Don’t miss the nineteenth-century Palazzo Delogu, owned by a wealthy family of landowners, the arcaded terrace at the top of which has become a symbol of the village.
Osidda’s territory extends across about twenty-six square kilometres and is criss-crossed by the Tirso and Molò rivers. In 2017, it became part of the Tepilora, Rio Posada and Montalbo Biosphere Reserve, which is part of the UNESCO global network of biosphere reserves.
The parish church of Sant’Angelo, built in the thirteenth century and situated at the highest point in the town, is dedicated to St Angelus of Jerusalem. The church preserves documents in Spanish and Logudorese as well as the parish records.
Every year on 5 May, the town celebrates the feast of the saint’s martyrdom, and his burial is commemorated on 14 May.
