Its old town is a network of cobblestone streets, stone houses and charming historical buildings, including the Catalan Gothic parish church, San Gavino Martire, with a distinctive thirty-metre-high bell tower that still has its sundial.

The Museo Etnografico Casa Porcu Satta is another important attraction, offering visitors an opportunity to immerse themselves in local culture and traditions.

The little village is also known for its production of Fiore Sardo DOP sheep milk cheese. A member of the Slow Food Presidium for Fiore Sardo, it also has a museum devoted to the cheese, the Museo del Fiore Sardo.

Gavoi is surrounded by mountains, forests and lakes.
Lake Gusana, a favourite destination for outdoor activities, is an artificial lake that was created between 1959 and 1961 in a picturesque location amidst hills covered with oak forests and typical Mediterranean vegetation, giving it a luminous, bright appearance.
