TEN Teatro Eliseo Nuoro
Description
The TEN Teatro Eliseo Nuoro theatre has been managed since 2017 by Il Teatro di Sardegna, the only TRIC Teatro di Rilevante Interesse Culturale (theatre of high cultural importance) in Sardinia.
The Teatro di Sardegna is committed to expressing a cultural – and not just artistic – scene, defining itself as a plural subject that contains a multiplicity of languages and supports educational initiatives.
TEN is its venue in Nuoro, offering a rich calendar of performances, installations, guests and more.
The Cinema Teatro Eliseo was built between 1942 and 1944 by Ditta Francesco Guiso Gallisai. Its construction was part of a wide-ranging plan for the transformation of Nuoro, which had become the capital of the province in 1927.
The building is in the austere, simple Rationalist style of the fascist period, marked by a lack of monumental inflection.
The theatre remained open until the end of the 1980s. Then, after a long period of inactivity, it was purchased by the city and restored, the work being completed at the end of the century.
TEN’s wide-ranging cultural offering includes theatre, film (with the project TENCinema), music and events. Not to mention exhibitions in the TENGallery and countless other public events and workshops.
