Maria Lai’s Andando Via
Description
Andando Via (Going Away), also known as Homage to Grazia Deledda, was Maria Lai’s final work of art. Dedicated to Grazia Deledda, it is next to the little church of Solitudine, where the writer is buried.
Made between 2011 and 2012, it is an installation of eleven white travertine pillars inscribed with text alternating with outlines of Sardinian women and sheep in wrought iron.
At the entrance to the space, Lai installed a frame decorated with her visionary shapes, culminating with a triangle indicating a remote destination.
