Nuoro
Lollove

Description

Lollove, Nuoro’s only remaining hamlet, was an independent municipality until the middle of the nineteenth century.
The population was over 400 inhabitants in 1950, but is now down to just twenty-six.

The hamlet’s cobblestone streets are lined with grey stone houses.
Many of the buildings are now unfortunately in ruin, but the atmosphere evokes a past of peaceful life and hard work in the vineyards.

According to legend, the nuns of the old convent abandoned the village, putting a curse on Lollove that kept it small but resilient over the centuries. This fascinating hamlet has inspired artists and writers, including Grazia Deledda.

Don’t miss the little parish church of San Biagio, embellished with a rose window and portal in pink trachyte, and the Casa Museo Lollove.
