The central niche hosts a wooden statue of the Virgin of Itria with the Christ Child.

The facade was decorated by Costantino Nivola using the graffito technique in 1958, transforming the simple facade into a stage for his imaginative figures.
It is the only public graffito work by Nivola in Europe.

Veneration of the Madonna de sa Itria culminates in Orani on the last Sunday of August, with religious celebrations and a town festival.
The cult is also celebrated in Gavoi (at the end of July), with a novena during which the faithful stay in the sanctuary’s cumbessias and the palio de sa Itria, one of Sardinia’s most exciting and famous traditional horse races.
