Bachisio Bandinu

Description

Bachisio Bandinu (b. 22 February 1939, Bitti) is an Italian anthropologist and writer.

An expert in popular culture and freelance journalist since 1972, he participates in the debate on identity in an original way, joining in the dialogue between anthropology and the social sciences started off by G. Angioni.

In 1976, Bandinu and G. Barbiellini Amidei published the volume Il re è un feticcio (the king is a fetish), which explores the relationship between traditional sheep-farming and meddlesome consumer culture.

In 1980, his book Costa Smeralda offered a further contribution to the analysis of the relationship between tradition and innovation.

In 1993, he won the Funtana Elighes prize and in 1999 he became editor of the newspaper L'Unione Sarda. A prolific writer, some of his works have made an invaluable contribution to understanding contemporary Sardinian history.

He is currently president of the Fondazione Sardinia.
